I was born in the Bronx in the early 60s, spent my high school days on the Jersey shore in the 70s and joined the US Navy Seabees in the 80's and ended up in Hawaii in 1986 where I started right into construction and custom woodwork. I always wanted to work in a woodshop and finally got a job in a custom Koa furniture shop where I worked for a few years before starting my own furniture shop, where I have been self-employed since 1990. In 2007 I started building guitars, something I always wanted to do and eventually closed down the big shop in 2011 to pursue producing handmade guitars in a small home shop setting.
Coming from a family of Artists Craftsman and Musicians I wanted to honor the Leopardi side and started the higher end hollow body line of “Leopardi Guitars”
“Corelli” and “Leopardi” guitars are a culmination of 30 years of woodworking experience and a lifetime of being around guitars and I’m just hoping to leave my small mark on the vast world of guitars.
I build all my guitars by hand, one at a time. NO CNC! Pure old school craftsmanship.
There are NO COMPROMISES on build components or quality in my shop.
This is my pledge as a guitar builder. When you buy a "Corelli" or "Leopardi" guitar, you are getting the best that money can buy.
This is a young Joe with his first guitar, given to him by his grandpa Fred Leopardi.
